Redding, California rapper/producer Space Cadet presents the Bui-directed music video for "Eyes Closed", his self-produced new single coming on the heels of visuals for previous single "Good Mood" (Youtube). A member of Bay Area collective Thirdeye Coalition, his releases include solo albums Still Love You (stream), Like Home and Letters From Space (Bandcamp) as well as his collaboration album The Love Nostalgic with Larry (watch the music video for "Shine") and his Turtlenecks project (watch the music video for "Make Over"). A professional sound engineer as well as a drummer/percussionist for marching bands, punk rock bands and everything in between, Cadet also collaborates heavily with fellow Bay Area rapper J.Lately (stream "Clean" featuring The Grouch).

"Initially I wanted to be walking next to the car while it was moving really slowly, to tie in with the theme of the hook, like a walk in the park type thing," Cadet says regarding the video. "However, the car (which my best friend Larry let me borrow) battery died and we had to wing it. I think in the end, the video now ties in much more to the verses as far as having to deal with the obstacles and adversities of the journey.”

Bay Area, California emcee J.Lately presents the Adrian Per-directed music video for "Better One", the lead single from his new EP Tuesday. The track features a guest appearance from fellow Bay Area emcee Blimes and is produced by longtime collaborator Space Cadet, the beatsmith behind half of Lately's 2017 album Be F*cking Happy (watch the "Papayas & Blunt Smoke" music video) who produces the entirety of Tuesday, which also features appearances from The Grouch and Khyenci. The "Better One" clip comes on the heels of the release of the music video for "Run" (watch the music video), also included on Tuesday. "Better One" has already spawned a remix featuring Andre Nickatina and Zion I (Spotify). Last year J.Lately released the "Fun's Up" single (Soundcloud), "Free" (Soundcloud) and "By My Lonely" (listen) featuring fellow Bay Area emcee Locksmith. Hailing from Sebastopol, and having split time between Oakland and Southern California, Lately has toured with Andre Nickatina, Zion I, Locksmith, and A-Plus of the Hieroglyphics, and his previous releases include "Save Yourself" featuring Blu (Soundcloud) and visuals for "I'll Be Living" ft. Demrick (Youtube) and "Papayas & Blunt Smoke" (Youtube). J says the new track is about "appreciating your own struggle and journey, and using it as a way to create confidence and happiness in yourself. Blimes and I have crossed paths a lot in the local Bay Area scene, as well as moving around the country, and it was high time for us to connect on a joint together. We had hella fun running around LA shooting this video with the very talented Adrian Per. Also, my dude Space Cadet killed this beat."

Bay Area, California emcee J.Lately presents the Erica Eng-directed music video for "Run", the new single from Tuesday, his forthcoming album produced entirely by Space Cadet. The new album will also feature appearances from The Grouch (stream "Clean"), Blimes and Khyenci. Space Cadet is also the beatsmith behind half of Lately's 2017 album Be F*cking Happy (watch the "Papayas & Blunt Smoke" music video). Last year J.Lately released the "Fun's Up" single (Soundcloud), "Free" (Soundcloud) and "By My Lonely" (listen) featuring fellow Bay Area emcee Locksmith. Demrick (Youtube) and "Breathe" (Youtube). Lately says "Run" is about "getting out of your own head and just going after what it is you know you truly want. Me and Space Cadet made this beat together the first weekend that we started working on the album. It was one of like 10 beats that we made that weekend, and I started writing to like 3 or 4 of them. Later that week I just ended up combining all the songs on this beat because I realized I was talking about the same thing in all of them. It was just really like exactly where I was at the time, and I had to get it off before I could move on. After that the whole album just kind of just flowed together from there."

Clean (feat. The Grouch), a song by J.Lately, The Grouch on Spotify

Bay Area, California emcee J.Lately presents his new single "Clean", featuring a guest appearance from fellow Bay emcee and Living Legends co-founder The Grouch. "Clean" is produced by Space Cadet, the beatsmith behind half of Lately's 2017 album Be F*cking Happy (watch the "Papayas & Blunt Smoke" music video). Alongside group member Murs, The Grouch blazed trails in the '90s indie hiphop scene with his Living Legends crew, and recently released two albums simultaneously, Unlock The Box and The Tonite Show (Soundcloud). Demrick (Youtube) and "Breathe" (Youtube). "We often look at times of struggle and pain as negative experiences, overlooking the opportunity it provides us for growth and renewal," J says about the new single. "This song is about accepting the inevitable presence of these more difficult times in our lives, and using them to bring us strength and positivity as we move forward. The track features The Grouch, who has been someone that's embodied this type of spirit to me throughout his career."
