Canada rapper/producer Trayvon Palmer presents the DNA Cinema-directed music video for "Bag", his new self-produced single out now via The Kudos Club. Hailing from the Ontario city of Kitchener, Palmer releases his new clip on the heels of visuals for his previous single "Mick Foley". (Youtube). Palmer says his new single was inspired by "me wanting to finally 'take' the music industry for myself. Repeatedly saying 'give me the bag' in the chorus means it's my turn to shine."

Describe a day in the life of Trayvon Palmer.

I wake up early every morning; normally around 8am to get my day started. I stay at home most days and I’m on my laptop majority of the time either making beats, recording a new song, or even mixing a song. I literally live music every day of my life.

What’s a life motto you try to live by?

I try to be a man of my word and to never give up. I live with my girlfriend and her son, and he looks up to me like his own father. I make sure to be a good role model for him so one day he can become a fine young man himself. Also I’d like to have children of my own, so to be the father I never had, I need to make sure I follow these two things for my future children’s sake.

What was your inspiration for “Bag”?

I’ve been making music for a long time. I was ten years old when I wrote my first song. If you search Yung Prynze on YouTube you can even find a bunch of songs that I did during my youth days. Bag is a message to the industry that I’ve been doing this music thing for years and now at the age of 25 I’m ready to finally take the music game for my own. I produce and write all my own music and I feel like my music something the world can really vibe to. Once I finished the beat for Bag, I knew right off the bat I’d be using the beat for myself.

Tell us about the Ontario rap scene.

I’ll admit that I’m not too familiar with every city across the province, but from what I discovered, the Ontario rap scene is amazing. I’m from Kitchener/Waterloo and there are many great artists in my city. Of course with Toronto having the buzz after Drake blew up, it’s great to see other artists get their shine. I remember seeing artists like Tory Lanez and PartyNextDoor being independent dropping music on MySpace and YouTube, to them finally becoming global stars. Stories like that drive upcoming artists like myself to push harder with their music since we’ve seen it work for other people.

What’s the main thing you learned from 2020?

The main thing I learned from 2020 is don’t let nothing stop you. I’ve seen a lot of plans alter this year, but at the same time it didn’t stop some people. For example, athletes are still playing sports. There may be no fans in attendance but the athletes aren’t letting that stop them from doing what they love most. I use this lesson to push myself for this year; to not give up and to not let anything get in my way!
